Specifically, the preceding two images show pages from “Three Takes,” the first comic in “Nonsense Comics.” In “Three Takes,” different arrangements of panel frames and gutters produce three different narratives from, or “takes” on, the same repeated visual base.
Nonsense Comics
A 24-page collection of my illustrations and comics, thematically inspired by nonsense literature. “Nonsense Comics” consisted in playful deconstructions of conventional comic layouts to hint at the chaos and violence lurking in our everyday gutters. (Note: A gutter is the space between two panels within a comic strip or comic book.) Drawn in pencil on paper, scanned, digitally colored in Photoshop, and then printed and hand-bound.
